Pasur Scoring Guide: Count Haft Khaj, Special Cards and Sur

To score Pasur, count six categories after each round: Haft Khaj is 7 points, the 10 of Diamonds is 3, the 2 of Clubs is 2, every Ace is 1, every Jack is 1, and every net Sur is 5. Add the round score to the running match total; the first player to 62 wins.

Kings, Queens, ordinary number cards, and the total number of captured cards do not score directly under the standard PlayPasur rules.

Print a scorecard for the table

Open the printable Pasur scorecard for a blank sheet with player names, six rounds, every scoring category, and running match totals. Choose Print / save as PDF to print on A4 or Letter or save a copy for later. The Persian scorecard has the same layout and rules.

Write the number of clubs in the clubs column, then 0 or 7 points in Haft Khaj. Do not add the club count itself to the score. All the other scoring columns hold points; for net Surs, multiply the remaining Sur count by five. If you need another sheet, copy each player's last match total into the starting-total fields.

Step 1: count clubs for Haft Khaj

There are 13 clubs in the deck. The player who captured more clubs earns the 7-point Haft Khaj bonus, but only after capturing at least seven clubs.

In a complete two-player round, one player will normally have at least seven clubs because all 13 clubs are captured. The 2 of Clubs counts toward the club total and can also score its separate 2-point bonus.

Step 2: find the two special number cards

The 10 of Diamonds is worth 3 points. The 2 of Clubs is worth 2 points. These are the only number cards with their own fixed point values.

The 2 of Clubs can matter twice: it contributes one club toward Haft Khaj and scores 2 points on its own. The 10 of Diamonds does not belong to another scoring category unless it was part of a Sur capture.

Step 3: count Aces and Jacks

Each Ace is worth 1 point, for up to 4 points across the deck. Each Jack is also worth 1 point, for another possible 4.

Jacks are powerful during play because they collect every non-King and non-Queen pool card, but clearing the pool with a Jack is not a Sur.

Step 4: calculate net Surs

A Sur is worth 5 points, but the two players do not keep independent Sur totals. An opponent's Sur cancels one of yours.

• You score two Surs and your opponent scores none: you receive 10 points.
• You score two Surs and your opponent scores one: you receive 5 points.
• Each player scores one Sur: neither player receives Sur points.

A pool clear on the sixth and final deal is not a Sur under the standard rules.

Worked scoring example

Suppose Mina captured:

• 8 clubs, including the 2 of Clubs
• The 10 of Diamonds
• 3 Aces
• 1 Jack
• 2 Surs, while her opponent scored 1 Sur

Her score is:

Add 21 to Mina's existing match score. If that takes her to 62 or above, finish the round and compare totals. If both players cross 62 in the same round, the higher total wins; an exact tie requires another round.

To fill in both scorecard rows, her opponent has the other 5 clubs, 1 Ace, and 3 Jacks. They receive no Haft Khaj, neither special card, and no net Sur: 0 + 0 + 0 + 1 + 3 + 0 = 4 points. Their canceled Sur is not a negative score.

The two round scores add to 25: the 20 fixed card points plus 5 for Mina's one net Sur. The round columns reset after each round; the match columns keep accumulating.

What is the maximum score without Surs?

The fixed scoring categories total 20 points across the deck:

• Haft Khaj: 7
• 10 of Diamonds: 3
• 2 of Clubs: 2
• Four Aces: 4
• Four Jacks: 4

Surs can push a player's round above that fixed total.
